Anna Kudryavtseva, Healthcare Transformation Services Leader, Philips shares her insights and experiences on Transformation Strategy & Organisational Transformation as part of the CXO Deep Dive series.

How would you explain your job to a 5-year-old?

I help doctors, nurses, and hospital directors make the right decisions the first time so that people can spend more time with their families at home but not in the hospital.

“There is no digital transformation, just transformation.” Do you agree or not? Why?

I don’t agree. I don’t think there is a transformation, it is an evolution process, pushed by a changing environment. Only those who are smarter, stronger and faster will survive.

What are the top challenges in your business transformation process?

  • The scale of organisation: huge corporations are rigid, unable to address environmental change rapidly
  • Corporate legacy: complex workflows and internal processes established over the years are slowing down business dynamics and negatively affecting employees’ pace
  • People’s resistance to change and unwillingness to cooperate

Do you see transformation as a distinct skillset, best delivered by “Transformation Experts”, or is it better to be led by the core business?

I would not vote for any of these options. For me, transformation in the organisation is a shared reality. It can be driven and pushed by the group of champions, but this is a journey on the boat where EVERYONE is puddling in the same pace, force, and direction.

How do you pick the right partners to accelerate digital transformation?

They usually demonstrate a high level of energy, curiosity, willingness to change, stress resistance, and balanced optimism.

How do you ensure seamless company-wide collaboration?

First of all, it is never seamless. However, greater collaboration can be archived if:

  1. Ground rules are aligned, accepted, and kept by all parties
  2. People demonstrate respect for the time and efforts of others

How do you achieve successful change management and shifts in culture, mindset and behaviours to adopt new digital tools?

The secret is simple: finding the value of a change for every stakeholder group. It is the most difficult but the most meaningful step to take first.

What do you think is the biggest challenge organisations face in the adoption of AI?

  • Staff resistance to imply into operations due to uncertainty and scare
  • Disbalance of investments vs usage of the full capacity

What technology / solution would you invest in if you were an Angel Investor?

AI startups to address daily challenges in the healthcare industry.

What’s the best advice someone has ever given you regarding transformation?

“Lead by Example”
